📈 2 Simple Tactics to Boost Open Rates in the First 24 Hours
PLUS: The year of niche B2B newsletters..

Came across this clip from Seth Godin x Tim Ferriss. All builders should ask themselves this question:
What can I build that the me of five years from now is going to say thanks?
Anyways, today is short and sweet:
2 simple ways to increase engagement in the first 24 hours.
Let’s get into it 👇️

2 Ways to Increase Engagement in the First 24 Hours ⏱️
Very easy to implement. Lots of upside.
1. Use a welcome survey.
If you needed another reason to use a welcome survey for new subscribers, here it is.
Welcome surveys help you learn who your audience is and what they want.
But it turns out, it also helps them form a stronger connection with your newsletter.

We’re seeing higher open and click through rates for subscribers who fill out a welcome survey vs. those who don’t.
Intuitively, this makes sense - people who voluntarily fill out a survey have higher intent.
But welcome surveys give people the opportunity to reinforce their intent, especially if your survey questions ask about their motivation for signing up.
Example: What keeps you up at night when it comes to your newsletter?
You get the benefit of friction (higher intent + stickiness) without the drawback (fewer landing page conversions).
The below segment is compared to 43% open rates and a 4.4% CTR 👇️

beehiiv makes this flow easy to build, but you can do this with any ESP by integrating it with something like Youform:
Subscriber subscribes on landing page ⤵️ (collect email only)
Immediately sees welcome survey ⤵️ (collect name + other info)
Moves on to thank-you page ⤵️ (get them to open the welcome email)
Goes to inbox to find welcome email
Which brings us to tactic #2.
2.. Use a dead simple thank-you page.
Any thank-you page I create has two goals:
Reinforce why it was a good decision for them to sign up
Get them to read the welcome email
We came across a daily newsletter with over 80,000 subscribers and 70%+ open rates.
Their thank-you page?

There’s your friendly reminder that simplicity > complexity.
